LUCY 　　Hello, everyone. I’m Lucy. It’s my honor to give a speech here today. I want to say, “Time flies.” Before I came here, I was afraid to talk with foreigners. But now I have more confidence to speak English. I want to share my impression about studying English. 　　First, I think interest is very important. If you have interest in something. You can do it well. We have many activities. I joined every activity, and enjoyed the time. I learned a lot from the fun time. I remembered a sentence from a language course, “Don’t learn the language. Rather, relearn the world as it is known and shared by the people whose language you are learning.” Sometimes, you allow yourself to be a child, be interested in learning about everything. It’s good for your English study. 　　Second, Never give up. At the beginning of this semester. Everyone was excited about studying English. But in the middle of the semester. We got a little tired. Sometimes I was tired. I didn’t want to listen and speak English any more. I thought that there was not a ny improvement. In that time, the teachers encouraged us: Keep going! So I didn’t give up. After that I found I improve a lot. Everyone believes the beginning is very important. But I want to say the middle and end are important too. Never give up at anytime. 　　The last point is “Don’t be shy, just try.” Many foreigners said most of the Chinese are very shy. I’m the stereotype. I was worried that my character would impede my improvement. One day Mr.Donop taught us a method, it was “55”(one day find 5 foreigners say 5 sentences).So, I tired my best to speak with foreigners. Maybe just said, “Hello”, “How are you?” At the end of the semester. I think I become more confident to speak English. If I hadn’t started, I would never have changed. Although you may fail, and feel embarrassed, just try. 　　Lately, I want to say “thank you” to every teacher, staff and schoolmate. Thank you for being my friends. I met many pure, kind and hard working people. I learned a lot from you. I wish everyone blessings and success for the future. Thank you!
